Microsoft TASC
The recovered source of the Applesoft compiler (1981)
Microsoft shipped TASC, its Applesoft BASIC compiler for the Apple II, only as compiled code, and its source code has long been presumed lost. That source has now been reconstructed, documented, and proven byte for byte with the original compiler and assembler. Also here: the manual, disk images, and AASCAD, a compiler and decompiler in one Python script. The GitHub project has the deeper dive into how it was done.
